What Are The Lemon Laws That Apply In Georgia?

There are three lemon laws applicable to Georgia lemon car lawsuits:

  • Magnuson-Moss Warranty – Federal Trade Commission Improvement Act – This federal law grants consumers like you more rights when up against the manufacturers of defective vehicles. Many manufacturers advertise to consumers based on warranties; the law allows for minimum requirements for these warranties and mandates certain disclosures.
  • Uniform Commercial Code TARR Baby – Georgia adheres to the Uniform Commercial Code, or UCC. It is the preeminent law addressing transactions involving vehicles. It contains what has been acrimoniously called the TARR Baby.
  • Georgia Lemon Law – Georgia’s lemon car law is found in Georgia Code Section 10-1-780. The Georgia Legislature significantly amended this law in 2008. In enacting this law, the Georgia Legislature found that a vehicle is a significant purchase for consumers. A defective vehicle has the likelihood of creating hardship or injury to the buyer.
